The sediment cores collected last year from RV Oceania in Greenland and Svalbard shelves arrived safely in NORCE, so today we can start magnetic susceptibility measurements. MS scanning is a powerful tool, which is being applied to constrain stratigraphic correlations within and between different sedimentary basin. It is the easiest way to tell anything about how old is actually the sediment core before we will be able to send the first samples for radiocarbon dating. We hope for high-resolution, undisturbed records!
