- expertise in empirical and modelling research on solar radiation transfer in the atmosphere and the sea, and its dependence on environmental factors
- measurement capabilities in the field of marine optics: inherent optical properties (IOPs) of water constituents (spectral absorption, attenuation, scattering and backscattering coefficients, measured with spectrophotometer Lambda 650 (Perkin-Elmer) equipped with 15-cm diameter integrating sphere (IS) (Labsphere), VIS transmissometer VIPER (TriOS), backscattering meter HydroScat-4 (HOBI Labs)), concentrations of suspended particulate matter, particulate organic matter and particulate inorganic matter (gravimetric method and loss-on-ignition technique)
- measurement capabilities in the field of atmospheric optics: incoming solar and thermal radiation (pyranometers and pyrgeometer, Kipp&Zonen), equivalent Black Carbon concentration (Aethalometr AE-31, Magee Scientific)
- possibilities and experience in using the following radiative transfer models: Hydrolight, Modtran
